THE SANCTUARY

Where Heaven Meets Earth

The Vision

Exterior Rendering of New Church Building

Our vision for a new sanctuary is not solely defined by our need for more seats.
It is defined by our desire to have
an appropriate space to give greater glory to God
by more
beautifully and reverently accommodating and aiding our
communal worship while at the same time inspiring deeper personal devotion.

We want to ensure that we leave behind a beautiful, well-built church
for the next generations of Catholics in the Toombs County and surrounding areas.

Why A New Church?

Since 1979, our church family has been celebrating Mass in our existing space, which at first was both the Sanctuary and Parish Hall.

Today our Sanctuary is bursting at the seams and we are continuing to grow. Most notably, our parish has seen our Hispanic community skyrocket!

Due to our growth, our worship space, cry room, entrance, and choir area are no longer big enough to hold the large amounts of people we frequently see.

On holy days and special feasts, our parish sees a tightly-packed Sanctuary and has to turn away any additional parishioners form entering our main worship space. Instead, they are redirected to our Parish Hall to view Mass from a live stream. No person should be turned away from worshipping due to space issues.

Other Limitations

Beyond our struggle to hold all parishioners in our current Sanctuary, we
are facing other limitations that often serve as barriers to our liturgies and
parish events.

  • We have little space to hold our faith formation classes. More classrooms are needed. By building a new church, we can repurpose the existing church to accommodate our needs.
  • Our current Narthex/gathering space is too small and does not allow for a spiritual transition. There is little space for processions for events like funerals and weddings.
  • Improved audio equipment is desperately needed.
  • We are in great need of more storage space. Our classrooms and bathrooms are currently serving as additional storage space.

Overview of New Church Building

The Need

If this new church is built, we could have space for…

  • Processions for funerals, weddings, and quinceaneras.
  • Two new restrooms with ADA accessibility.
  • Relocated and more appropriate confessional (we currently use a repurposed storage closet).
  • Larger dedicated space for the choir allowing for more members to join.
  • The current Sanctuary will be repurposed into a multi-purpose room to host our largest Sacramental classes and parish celebrations.
  • Rooms like the Confessional in the current church building will be converted to sorely needed storage space.
  • Our HVAC will be much more accessible due to its new location on the second floor.
